Getting Azureus
You can obtain Azureus from it’s official website here. It is available on Linux, Mac, Windows. Being built on Java, it is platform independent. The requirements are Java Runtime client.
Installation
Installing under windows is usual, just double click on the binary file and proceed with the installation. For Linux, check with your software repositories if the binaries are available.
If binaries are not available then unpack the source package (tar.bz2) and run the ‘azureus’ executable file. There is not need of configuration or installation.
Initial Configuration
Once you have installed it, you must go through the initial configuration. Click on the advanced tab from Azureus, then click on tools. Under tools click on Configuration Wizard and select appropriate options from the list. This is most important for getting good speeds.
Further you have to resolve the NAT problem by forwarding the appropriate ports. Click here for instruction to solve the NAT problem. Once you have done that, you will have to select the correct upload speed. If you don’t know your net speeds, please check them here. Go to options and under options, select transfer under that select the Global Upload speeds.
Set both the upload and download speed as 80% of the maximum speeds that you obtain.
Obtaining the Optimum Speed
This is the thing that most people want from a torrent client. If you do the things mentioned in the last point, then there is no need for this point. But in case you are still having the problems, make sure that there is no other P2P client running paralllaly with Azureus and if the speeds still remain low then check this guide.
