OpenSUSE promo DVDs are out…

OpenSUSE team has finally announced free DVDs… (Don’t get your hopes up people… The DVDs are not the same thing such as Ubuntu). These DVDs will be available for special purposes only. You cannot order the DVDs for personal use.

You need to send in a application to the openSUSE team at ‘marketing@suse.de’. You have to send a short reason for the order and then you will receive the DVDs before the deadline you provide with the application.

These DVDs are not available for download. The version that is available for the download has many languages. This DVD has less languages due to space limitations. The packages includes a basic desktop system with GNOME/KDE, OpenOffice.org, Realplayer, Flash and everthing else you need for a desktop system. Most development tools are not on the PromoDVD, but you have everything you need to compile a Kernel with it. A full list of the RPMs is online here. This version of the DVD contains ‘English, German, Spanish, Italian, French, Chinese (traditional and simplified), Brazilian Portuguese, Polish’ languages.

So, if you run a magazine, if you want to give DVDs out at a science fair… just place a mail and you will get the DVDs.
