I cannot believe my luck…

Whoa… you might be wondering what am I writing a post with such a title right after my exams… It is not that the exams went bad or something, but I really am amazed at what can happen.

I went to the exam dreading of a particular experiment. It took us 11 people and 2 batches of 2 hours each to finish it when we first performed it. It was the RC Coupled Amplifier with a negative voltage series feedback.

Now a little flashback. Last semester we had a subject, called Electronic Devices and Circuits. In that we had to perform a practical on a sinngle stage RC coupled amplifier. And just before the start of the practical exam, my friend had said that Aditya (me) is the only one who can perform that in oral. And (curse his bad tongue), I had to perform that practical last year. It was the largest experiment. I somehow succeeded in fooling the examiner and did a little scam with the readings and came out as topper in the class.

Back live, today, I was dreading this same thing, remembering the last year. I was desperately hoping that it would not be the 2 stage RC… practical that I will have to perform. Cause this year the subject is not EDC. It is Electronics Circuit Design. ECD, the next stage of EDC. So, if that was the case, I would have to design the circuit, build it, take static readings, frequency response readings, plot a graph on a normal graph paper, due to lack of Semi-Log papers. And that too, in under 2 hours. All alone.

I had heard from previous batches that people took 3-4 hours to finish and then too, their readings will not be near good enough. Plus, the other 8 practicals were VERY simple. Just for your information, they also had a single stage RC amplifier. And also a 2 staged one? For same marks? To be performed in same amount of time? Not Fare (or Fair… whatever).

So, I went in. And you would have guessed by now that my luck landed me again with the 2 stage RC amplifier indeed. I did my best to finish it in time, which I fortunately did. I also gave 70% answers correct in the viva by external examiner. The internal examiner asked me just 1 question and I gave the answer correctly, then he saw the waveforms and left.

All in all, it went fine, but I still could not help but think that I would have done better had it been some other practical. Then again, the internal seemed happy. My readings were correct (if not accurate)…. Aah, I just wish that I grab 40/50 at least…. I wish…
