Singh is King…

Singh might be king but I am definitely feeling like one of those people who were promised new land on the moon. :-| There was a lot of hype and again a lot of hype about this movie. I agree that I did not have a very good feeling about this, but due to drought of new movies, I had no choice… So, I went to watch it.

I have come home with some mixed feelings. Some of the points I have taken from the movie are, 1). WTF 2). WTF and 3). Akshay Kumar’s acting… Let me go on one by one.

The first scene, the very first time you see someone who looks like a ’singh’, makes you wonder… why O’ why have I spent so much money (if you are actually watching it in theater that is… I made that mistake) and come to see such a crap movie? Before you even get out of that anguish of the moment, you are facing Akshay Kumar who is doing some weird gestures that make you think weird things. :-| (And also make you write weird things afterwards maybe? Aah… I am losing my touch, or maybe I am being too naive).

Akshay Kumar has lived up to expectations. He has played the role very well. The movie has subtle touches of sensible things but mostly it is crap third grade comedy. In the second half, after the intermission, the movie slightly bends towards seriousness, but the comedy part continues… You don’t understand till the end of the movie what were the intentions of the director. It is comedy, serious, crap, all in one package. There is also one double role. Which I still don’t understand. Why were they looking like each other? And if they were, then what was the intention behind showing that in the movie? (Sorry… I am not drunk, but making a review spoiler free is hard… after some time, the reader starts thinking that the author is a nut case.. please bear with me :-p )

The songs are crap (IMO). The only audible (audible as in something that you might wish to listen to more than once…. not as audible whisper or something….) song is the title song. Rest are pure crap (but might be hit in a disco). The hardest part was making out the lyrics. End of case.

In the end, it is the same old Bollywood story. Poor man likes rich girl (with a twist… the girl is no longer very rich) she likes someone else.. poor man spends time with her… she suddenly likes the poor man… the rich boy gets angry turns villain (with a twist here too) and in the end, gets nothing.

^^ See that sums up about the whole movie. If you want to watch it, watch it for 2 people only. First is Akshay Kumar and the second is the real King (As usual I don’t know the names all the actors in supporting role… someone provide them please :-) ). That’s it… I am sure I will have a hard time sleeping now…

I can’t understand. Why did you watch this crap movie in the first place? The only interesting thing in the movie is the song singh is king which features Snoop Dogg. First time appearance by a rapper of some repute in Bolywood’s history! Rest was not foreseeable.

That garish glamor, which is “in-your-face” makes me enough to avoid such movies. Akkie is losing his sense of comedy for the moolah. Bad, bad!
