Arch Crisis…

This day was BAD. I tried to boot into arch and suddenly got some kernel panics. I HAD to boot into arch for some work, otherwise I would have had to install a bunch of Software on SUSE and do my work. So I went to freenode archlinux channel. Some people there suggested that I rebuild the kernel images. Oh, the problem right…

Here was I, trying to boot and there was some kernel panic. Apparently, the root file system was not being recognized by the system and it was issuing errors. So, as per the suggestions, I booted into SUSE, chrooted into Arch, updated the kernel images and found the problem.

It was my noobish mistake. I am still not sure how I could have done that. I added the wireless module ipw-2200 in the file mkinitcpio.conf instead of rc.conf. I mean, WTF. I got the error, cannot build ipw-2200 during the kernel image regeneration. I removed that module from the file and regenerated the images. No error. The system is up and running fine. Thanks a lot IRC.

heh…happens sometimes.
i suggest you to follow an incremental backup regime to handle those “bad times”.just google for incremental backups. you would get tons of information.
