openSUSE 11.1 Beta 3 Released after delay…

Boy, if I would have said that there was going to be a power cut of 6-7 hours on some X day, no one would have noticed. We have that much load shedding every day. But when such thing happens and results in all the (most of them) openSUSE servers go down due to the powercut, everyone starts wooing…

End of rant :) The openSUSE Project is proud to announce the availability of beta 3 of the 11.1 release. It’s a few days late, but much better for the delay. Beta 3 is now available for immediate download and testing. Is what they say on their site.

What’s changed since beta 2?
Major changes in this release include:

  • Live CDs for x86 and GNOME and KDE
  • OpenOffice.org 3.0
  • Mono 2.0 Final
  • Linux 2.6.27.1 (fixes e1000e issue)
  • CUPS 1.3.9
  • Parts of 11.1 branding are now in place
  • Amarok 2.0 beta 2
  • Banshee 1.3.2
  • GNOME 2.24

One more thing is that pretty SUSE now works well with pretty Mac… Take that for envy ;) KVM is broken in this release due to a kernel configuration change before beta 3. It should be working in the next release. OpenOffice.org 3.0 integration continues and should be much better in this release. Blah blah… Who cares what downsides does a beta have? Afterall those who use this, do not have to be reminded that this is a BETA.. Meaning something that does not work (literally)… And I know what I am getting myself into.. So, beta 3, here I come. Rather you come to me. Downloading now.
