This has been one of the most tiring things for me… The problem was simple one, but as usual, simple problems are harder to find than the tougher ones. It was router port ip problem… But now, I have got it working at last. With a lot of help from Kalpik and Mehul. (Check their blogs out… they are good, though Kalpik is not writing anything for now….) That means 3 down 2 more to go… Got the Webmin, SSH and Apache access… Bind and one more thing to get done…
\\ tags: Internet, Linux, openSUSE, Webmaster, WebsiteI have been thinking about writing this kind of post for a long time. I would have written long ago, but the truth is that, after coming from blogger, I found wordpress to be very overwhelming. So, I was just waiting to get myself aquinted and then I forgot about it
So, here I am back with the list of the plugins I use to enhance my blog.
Administrative :-
- My Dashboard
- Wordpress Database Backup
- Cforms II
- Google Analytics
This is a plugin that transforms you dashboard into a drag and drop ajax based dashboard. Adds better user experience.
This is a gem. It takes backups of the wordpress database and sends you en email of the same. All automated and scheduled.
Again, a very good plugin. It generates ajax based forms and you can do almost everything with this that you can do with a normal HTML/Ajax form. See the example here.
This plugin automatically installs the Google analytics code in the blog.
Well people… I am spending my holidays doing something good it seems. A friend of mine, Tushar Gokhale (Well actually, he is about 12 years older than me, so it’s more like an older brother) is teaching me SQL and PHP.
What happened was, I was talking with him about his website. I wanted to know which CMS (Content Management System) does he use. I was planning to move to Joomla from Wordpress. And I wanted to know is there is something better suited for my needs.
He told me that he doesn’t use any and said that he had built a kind of CMS of his own using PHP and SQL. (By the way, for people who want to know more about these 2 things, visit W3Schools, in short, PHP is ‘Hypertext Preprocessor’ and SQL is Structured Query Language).
I asked him to teach me how. He said, OK and said that he will put up a tutorial for me. Something like crash course (but of course without crashes). So, it’s been 2 days that I am learning it from him. And when I think of him, it’s either that he is a good teacher or the Continue reading »
\\ tags: Internet, My Life, PHP, Programming, SQL, Web Design, WebsiteThis is quite old actually. The services have been there since I can remember using google. (That either means that I had very little knowledge back then, or I am no as ancient as you used to think I was
).
So, coming back to the point, the services offered by google are really good. They have proved to be a very good source of information for me on my old blog. And I know that it is going to give the same for my this blog also.
Google Analytics
Google analytics is actually Urchin Software (well, google still used the name urchin in their tracking code… read entire post to know about tracking code). It was a paid service from Urchin but now it is free from google unless you have 5 million visitors a month. Then you have to subscribe to AdWords.
What you have to do is, sign in to your analytics accountusing your google ID and Password. The you have to submit your site. You will receive a code (The same one I was talking about earlier). You just have to put that code before the end of the </body> tag on all the pages you want to track. Once you have done that, Continue reading »
